Jim Comer, Speech Coach, Speaker, Author
For more than twenty-five years, Jim Comer has worked as a speech coach, writer and keynote speaker for Fortune 500 companies ranging from KPMG and Rockwell International to LCRA and Avon Products. He has spoken on communication strategies and given presentation skills workshops from Los Angeles to Halifax, Nova Scotia and coached CEOs of five Fortune 500 companies.
Jim has collaborated with Leita Hart-Fanta on a two-day workshop, Presentation Skills for Accountants and Auditors, at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and was twice a keynote speaker at the state convention of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He brings energy, humor and a wealth of knowledge to his communication workshops and leaves students with practical insights and information they can use immediately.
An author, speechwriter and comedy writer, Jim has written jokes for Bob Hope and Joan Rivers, and had articles published in prestigious publications:

While an actor in New York, Jim played Snoopy in Charlie Brown and was on seven quiz shows including Jeopardy. His first book, How to Survive a Roommate, landed him on the Today Show with Jane Pauley. His most recent book, When Roles Reverse: A Guide to Parenting Your Parents, was nominated as Best Non-Fiction Book of 2007 by the Writers’ League of Texas.
Jim has been a national semi-finalist in Toastmasters International Speech Contest, was named Member of the Year by the Heart of Texas Chapter of the National Speakers Association, and is active in RESULTS, a citizens lobby that fights childhood diseases and supports entrepreneurial programs such as microcredit, that helps the poor create small businesses and lift themselves out of poverty.
Jim has spoken to tens of thousands at conventions, professional associations and churches throughout America, Canada and Mexico. His communication keynotes include "You Are the Message," and "How Not to Speak Like a Geek." Jim’s inspiring, talk based on fourteen years of experience, "The Joys and Jolts of Parenting Your Parents," blends practical advice with humor and the joy he found in caring for his own parents.
